BEN BUCKTON
I met Ben when we were both appearing in a Special Jubilee Show for the Duchess of Kent at the Odeon Leicester Square in London during 1977. I remember international star Bruce Forsyth was top of the bill. Ben's latest film "Glitterball" was being shown and was really well received by the audience of 4,000. I think Ben was about 13 years old at the time. Ben had already starred as Billy Baxter in the excellent "Battle of Billy's Pond" for the Childrens' Film Foundation. This movie went on to win awards all around the world. At the party after the show Ben told me that he was giving up acting to concentrate on his music. I guess this is what happened as I've never heard of him making another movie since "Glitterball" which is a great shame as he was very, very good.
