Darren starred in BBCTV's marvellous adaption of Gerald Durrell's superb "My Family and Other Animals". The amazing thing about Darren was not only did he look uncannily like the young Gerald Durrell but, my goodness, he could certainly act as well. This was a role that looked idyllic but any of us who have filmed in that sort of sun (I'm off to Kenya myself to film very shortly) will know just how hard it is to work in that sort of heat. Darren also had plenty of animals to work with and they require some patience I can tell you. In spite of the heat, the animals and the fact that playing a 'classic' is always difficult Darren was quite brilliant in the role. Again he seems to have disappeared from our screens, if anyone knows what he is doing please let us know - and tell him to start acting again!
