Andrew Ellams was the star of the Thames Television's children's series "Chocky" based on the John Wyndham novel of the same name. This was so successful that Thames followed it up with a second series "Chocky's Children" and a third one whose name I can't remember. Andrew Ellams was very much the star of the first two, playing the lead role of Matthew Gore, he didn't feature so much in the third one. Andrew's performance was quite superb, it was rumoured that he had been spotted by a Thames TV director while appearing in a school production. If this was the case then it just shows what amazing talent there is outside the mainstream film industry. Andrew brought so much to the part that it is hard to imagine that the series would have been such a huge success without him. I don't know what he is doing these days.
Thanks to Chris for the following information
Under your Andrew Ellams section you mentioned you did not know the name of the 3rd Chocky series... it was "Chocky's Challenge"; 6 episodes broadcast between Sept-Oct 1985. Hope this little snippet helps you develop your superb site. Regards, Chris
Thanks also to a pupil of Andrew's for this:
"If you are interested in what Andrew Ellams is up to now then I can tell you. He gave up his acting career and went on to study at Oxford University. He now teaches Economics at ***** in ***** and keeps quiet about his acting exploits. (STARZ we've taken out the name of the school to preserve Anrew's privacy)
