Here's one of my favourite short films of all time, yes I know it's very old and I know that it is very basic in its techniques, and I also know that it is an absolute classic. "Le Crin Blanc" is one of those staging posts, a milestone in cinema history. We are shown a window into another world, a mystical world, a world of the wondrous white Camargue horses and the self sacrifice of a small boy. Alain Emery is quite magical as the boy who befriends the white stallion and does indeed save its life. The movie is voice over but Alain's elfin looks give him an almost faery world look and he certainly can ride. Superbly direcyed by legendary French filmmaker Albert Lamorisse this is one film that everyone should see.
