Here's one of the really great UK child actors of the 1970's. Simon Gipps-Kent appeared extensively on UK TV and was highly acclaimed for his performance in Edward VII, he also played the young Michael York in "Great Expectations". I hadn't realised that he had also appeared in a major role in the UK children's television series "The Tomorrow People". There's one particularly funny moment when Paul tells the young Peter Vaughan-Clarke that if he is wearing anything under his kilt then "he'd better get them off", Peter replies "sounds like the proverbial brass monkeys!"
Paul was a very good friend of a friend of mine and I only heard the very best things said about him, I was deeply saddened to hear of his death in 1987. I would urge everyone to buy the DVD of The Tomorrow People - The Doomsday Men - not only is Paul's performance quite brilliant but the commentary by Peter Vaughan-Clake and Nicholas Young is superb.
Simon is truly a great loss.
