JON WHITELEY

Here's one of the great child actors of all time, in his day Jon Whiteley was unparalleled as a child actor. His performance as Harry in "The Kidnappers" was so brilliant that he was given a Special Oscar at the Academy Award ceremony in 1954. I particularly liked him in "The Spanish Gardener" where he played opposite the young Dirk Bogarde. This was no easy role to play but Jon got it, just like he got all his performances, absolutely right. Their have been a few (very few) child actors as good as Jon Whiteley, there have been none better. He seems so have stopped acting when he was 12 years old and I had heard that he had become a doctor but I don't know if this is true, perhaps someone will let us know.

We are informed that Jon Whiteley is alive and well, and is an Historian of Art, in Oxford, UK
